What we do

PHARE Media Consultancy Limited (PMCL) is a consulting firm with offices in the Caribbean and the USA. PMCL specializes in media business transformation, media monetization strategy, marketing, media strategy, media management, media training and capacity building, content strategy, advertising strategy, newsroom modernization, project management, product promotions and public relations. Our mission is to guide our clients through the complex landscape of managing media businesses as well as media and marketing, helping them to achieve their business goals and build strong, lasting relationships with their audiences.

About the Founder

With more than 30 years of experience across all variants of media Dr. Claire Grant, OD is an accomplished business strategist known for strategic visioning, transformative leadership, and innovation. Her sustained work in the sector of media has been recognised by her country as she was awarded Order of Distinction Officer Class for her contribution in Jamaica. Dr Grant has been positively impactful during her years of management and executive leadership. 

Dr. Grant is a respected figure in the regional media industry. She has served as President of the Caribbean Broadcasting Union (CBU) across two terms and is now the Immediate Past President of the Union. She was also Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Media Association, Jamaica Limited (MAJL). She is currently the vice chair of the ATSC – The Broadcast Standards Association Caribbean Implementation Team for the lastest broadcasting standard ATSC 3.0 or Nextgen TV, and is also a member of the ATSC’s Business Advisory Committee.

Dr. Grant has consistently delivered results by aligning brand narratives with evolving market dynamics and fostering the growth and the emergence of high-performing teams in difficult environments and situations.

A critical thinker by nature, Dr. Grant is adept in developing comprehensive strategies that present solutions for business process alignment challenges. Her Doctoral work on Advertising effectiveness, an MBA with a marketing specialism, and an MA in International Journalism underpins an academic/research guided practice mindset. Her work is anchored in data driven analysis from an emerging market lens observing and reacting to global opportunities for media in a rapidly digitally evolving globe. Her analytical approach delivers outcomes that enhance business outcomes by embracing new technological innovations to identify and sustaining evolving product value propositions.

Dr Grant was a part of the team and eventually sat at the transformational helm of the conversion of Jamaica’s leading television station from a $0.7billion to a $2.5 billion revenue company, primarily by identifying, creating, and pursuing opportunities for growth while nurturing cross functional teams that were guided to understand and live for the assignment.

Key contributions include:

  • Providing strategic guidance to regional government and state organisations in need of business case definition for building transformational cases for media enterprises.

  • Selecting strategic winning solutions in periods of complex and disruptive environments.

  • Leveraging deep analytical acumen and management insight to lead successful strategy formulation for multi-year planning and portfolio capacity building and governance.

  • Synthesizing strategic vision into operational objectives, KPIs and performance targets underpinned by PMI techniques.
